Michelle Hanks Tax & Business Consulting PLLC may be a new firm, but we have over 20 years of CPA experience and 3 1/2 years of CFO experience.  Many CPA firms say that they "think outside the box" and that they are "proactive."  At Michelle Hanks Tax & Business Consulting PLLC we prove this to our clients every single day. One look at our offices or one conversation with us, you will notice that we are different. We believe that the best way to provide CPA services is to have a relationship with our clients and talk to them. 

We may be a small firm, but we have the technology and the tools on par with many bigger firms. We have the experience to provide quality services to individuals and businesses. Our expertise ranges from basic tax preparation to more complex tax returns and tax planning, to more in-depth services such as income tax audits, assistance with financial statement preparation, business management and an array of typical CPA services provided in an untraditional way. By combining our expertise, experience and communication skils, we assure that every client gets the attention they deserve. We know that taxes can be painful, but we believe meeting with your CPA shouldn't be!

Michelle is a self proclaimed "tax geek." After making a living as a performing musician and working in a number of administrative and bookkeeping positions in Texas, Michelle relocated to the Midwest and landed in Madison, WI. She began attending University of WI-Madison at the age of 30. Michelle received her BBA in Accounting in December, 1995, at the age of 35. She relocated again - this time to Michigan where she started her public accounting career and obtained her CPA in 1998. She worked at 3 CPA firms in West Michigan, most recently at a CPA firm in Grand Haven where she worked for 14 years, with over 6 years as a partner. In October, 2013, she became the CFO of a Grand Haven manufacturing company where she remained for 3 1/2 years. In early 2017, she made the decision to return to her true love and passion: helping small businesses and individuals. She lives in Spring Lake with her husband, Gary, and cat, Harpo. Michelle co-owns Seven Steps Up Live Music & Event Venue with her husband and can be often be found behind the mixing board providing sound for many of the concerts in the venue. She is also on the steersing committee for the Lakeshore Athena Awards, the treasurer for the West Michigan Alliance for Veterans, and the President of a non-profit organization Courtyard Concerts she co-founded with her husband.

Julie is the Admin of Office Magic. The title fits her nicely as she has a passion for office organization and worked at Disney World during a college internship. It was here where she learned the importance of providing the greatest customer service a.k.a. "Disney Magic" while working closely with Mickey Mouse himself. Julie has a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development from Michigan State University. After being a preschool teacher for over a year, she switched career paths to gain administrative experience as the Business Manager of an online custom wooden sign company located in Holland, MI. In the winter of 2017, Julie decided to leave her position and join Michelle on the exciting journey of opening Michelle Hanks Tax & Business Consulting. She is thrilled to take on different tasks and numerous roles while under the guidance of Michelle, who has a plethora of knowledge and guidance to offer about running a business, which Julie hopes to pursue someday. She teaches a workout class called Group Centergy at MVP in Holland, and lives in Zeeland with her husband, Jake.
